Why Aubrey McClendon Mattered
Earlier this week, Aubrey McClendon died in a single-car accident in Oklahoma City. He was 56 years old.
He was a hugely controversial and misunderstood person. I wrote two chapters about him in The Boom — and could have written much more. He was a fascinating person who engendered a wide range of emotions. I wanted to write about why he mattered and why its worth putting aside our views of him (both good and bad) and think about his impact on the energy world and the country.
I wrote an essay for the Wall Street Journal about why he mattered.
